Synopsis
As a young woman is entertaining her lover in the living room, she hears what she thinks is her father coming and urges the young man to hide in the coal box. However, it's the coal man, who comes in and empties a bag of coal on top of the unfortunate young man. Hearing another suspicious noise, the lover hides in the fireplace. This time the father enters and starts a fire, causing the lover to fall down from his warm perch in the chimney, covered with soot. Edison would shortly remake this film under the title The Lovers, Coal Box and Fireplace.
