Biografia
Anthony Andrews ha debuttato nel West End al teatro Apollo come uno dei venti giovani ragazzi in "Forty Years On" di Alan Bennett con John Gielgud. Ha iniziato la sua carriera al Chichester Festival Theatre nel Regno Unito. I suoi crediti teatrali includono periodi con la New Shakespeare Company - "Romeo e Giulietta" e "Sogno di una notte di mezza estate". La produzione del Royal National Theatre di "Coming in to Land" di Stephen Poliakoff con Maggie Smith, diretta da Peter Hall, la molto acclamata produzione del Greenwich Theatre di "One of Us" di Robin Chapman e, come "Pastor Manders", nella produzione molto acclamata di Robin Phillips di "Ghosts" di Henrik Ibsen al Comedy Theatre di Londra, prodotta da Bill Kenwright. La prima apparizione televisiva di Anthony fu in The Wednesday Play: A Beast with Two Backs (1968) di Dennis Potter, parte della serie The Wednesday Play (1964). Il suo primo ruolo da protagonista in una serie fu quello del protagonista in The Fortunes of Nigel (1974) della BBC di Sir Walter Scott. Successivamente, si distinse in vari classici televisivi interpretando "Mercuzio" in Romeo & Juliet (1978) e recitò in tre diverse opere nella serie "Play of the Month" (1976), incluso il ruolo di "Charles Harcourt" in "London Assurance". Ha anche recitato in Danger UXB (1979), in cui interpretava l'eroe dello smantellamento di bombe "Brian Ash". Più notoriamente, ha ricevuto riconoscimenti mondiali per la sua interpretazione del condannato "Sebastian Flyte" in Brideshead Revisited (1981), per la quale vinse un BAFTA nel Regno Unito, il Golden Globe negli USA e una nomination agli Emmy come miglior attore. Da allora Anthony è diventato protagonista in Jewels (1992), per il quale ha ricevuto un'altra nomination ai Golden Globe. Più recentemente, Anthony ha ricevuto enormi riconoscimenti per la sua straordinaria interpretazione di "Count Fosco" in "The Woman In White" al Palace Theatre nel West End di Londra. Come produttore, ha co-prodotto Lost in Siberia (1991), che si traduce come "Perso in Siberia", girato interamente in Russia, che ricevette una nomination al Golden Globe come Miglior Film Straniero e Haunted (1995), prodotto dalla sua casa di produzione, Double 'A' Films.
