Özet
In the post-war years, a soldier named Sergei returns home from France. With him comes Giselle, his French lover. He has long been "pined" by fellow villager Klavdia, who tries to destroy the international marriage by any means. To do this, she even falls in love with Sergei his own sister Olga.
