Without respect, friends and love, life is meaningless, Max's grandfather, a powerful and domineering man, is convinced. To force his eldest grandson to change, his grandfather sets harsh rules: get engaged to a girl of his grandfather's choice, or Max loses his management position in the family business and is excluded from the will. Max is horrified when he finds out that he is being forced into a relationship with a plain and ugly nurse who works in a retirement home.
