The main character of the series is a female teacher who, during the interwar period, leaves her hometown, Paris, to come to Greece, her place of origin. The political and social situation prevailing in Greece surprises her and her emotions alternate, as she encounters various behaviors and mentalities. Her appointment in Rethymno becomes an occasion for her to get to know the conservatism of the province and to risk her career and her reputation.
