Biografie
Barbara Steele ist eine englische Schauspielerin und Produzentin, bekannt für ihre Hauptrollen in italienischen Gothic-Horrorfilmen der 1960er Jahre. Sie wurde als „Königin aller Scream Queens“ und „Großbritanniens First Lady des Horrors“ bezeichnet. In Mario Bavas wegweisendem Film „Die Stunde, wenn Dracula kommt“ (1960) spielte sie die Doppelrolle der Asa und Katia Vajda und war in Filmen wie „Das Pendel des Todes“ (1961), „Das schreckliche Geheimnis des Dr. Hichcock“ (1962), „Der Todesfluch der brennenden Hexe“ (1964) und „Castle of Blood“ (1964) zu sehen. Darüber hinaus hatte Steele Nebenrollen in Federico Fellinis „8½“ (1963), David Cronenbergs „Shivers“ (1975), Joe Dantes „Piranha“ und Louis Malles „Pretty Baby“ (beide 1978) und wirkte 1991 in der Fernsehserie „Dark Shadows“ mit. Sie gewann einen Primetime Emmy Award für die Produktion der amerikanischen Fernsehminiserie „Feuersturm und Asche“ (1988–89). Steele wirkte in den 2010er Jahren in mehreren Filmen mit, darunter in einer Hauptrolle in „The Butterfly Room“ (2012) und in einer Nebenrolle in Ryan Goslings „Lost River“ (2014).
