Biographie
Wolfgang Petersen était un scénariste, producteur et réalisateur d'origine allemande qui a passé l'essentiel de sa carrière aux États-Unis. Dans les années 1960, il commence à diriger des pièces de théâtre au Théâtre Ernst Deutsch de Hambourg. Après s'être intéressé au théâtre à Berlin et à Hambourg, Petersen fréquente l'Académie du cinéma et de la télévision de Berlin (1966-70). Ses premières productions furent pour la télévision publique allemande, et c'est lors de son travail sur la populaire série policière Crime Scene qu'il rencontra l'acteur Jürgen Prochnow, qui apparaîtra plus tard dans son film emblématique Das Boot (1981). Ses autres films incluent The NeverEnding Story (1984), le film culte Enemy Mine (1985), Shattered (1991), In the Line of Fire (1993), Outbreak (1995), Air Force One (1997), The Perfect Storm (2000). ), Troie (2004), Poséidon (2006) et Four Against the Bank (2016), son dernier film.
