Biographie
Johnnie To Kei-Fung, né le 22 avril 1955 est un réalisateur et producteur de cinéma hongkongais. Très prolifique, To a réalisé des films dans divers genres, mais il est surtout connu en Occident pour ses films d'action et policiers. Ses films, souvent réalisés en collaboration avec le même groupe d'acteurs, de scénaristes et de directeurs de la photographie, explorent fréquemment les thèmes de l'amitié, du destin et de l'évolution de la société hongkongaise. Parfois décrit comme « multifacette et caméléon » en raison de sa capacité à changer de ton et de genre d'un film à l'autre, To est néanmoins considéré comme ayant un style cohérent, qui consiste à mélanger un réalisme discret et une observation sociale avec des éléments visuels et théâtraux très stylisés. To dirige la société de production Milkyway Image, basée à Hong Kong, avec son co-réalisateur habituel Wai Ka-Fai.
