Biographie
Dmitri Frolov est né à Leningrad en 1966. Il est diplômé de l’Institut du film et de la télévision en 1990. Il a travaillé à Lenfilm Studios puis pour la société de film STV en tant que cameraman, dont la capacité qu'il a travaillé avec de nombreux cinéastes indépendants. Il a commencé à tourner ses propres films avant le début de la perestroïka, au début des années 1980. L'un de ses premiers films, La bataille de Borodino, a fait fureur et a fait beaucoup pour déterminer le développement de la tendance dans le cinéma folklorique. Movemanguard dans l'âge postperestroïka. Il fait des expériences esthétiques avec le retour au cinéma muet à un nouveau niveau de la cinématographie. Ses films tournent exclusivement sur la compagnie de cinéma "Svema". Même en dépit du fait que le matériau du film, a déclaré l'usine a été laissé loin dans le passé soviétique, et le film n'est pas libéré, il ravive les images, tout en continuant à être fidèle à la marque choisie plus enfant. Lorsqu'on lui a demandé pourquoi, il a répondu que seul « Svema » en raison de son caractère imprévisible et non-uniformité de l'émulsion, est la matière vivante, qui est capable de transmettre le frisson du caractère de la vie et même l'objet apparemment inanimé.
