Biographie
Né à Hokkaidō en 1974, Kazuya Shiraishi débute sa carrière en travaillant comme assistant du réalisateur Kōji Wakamatsu. Il signe son premier long-métrage, Lost Paradise in Tokyo, en 2009. En 2013, son film The Devil's Path est sélectionné aux Oscars du Japon et il est sacré meilleur réalisateur pour Birds Without Names (2017) et The Blood of Wolves (2018). En 2019, il est élu meilleur réalisateur de l’année aux célèbres Kinema Junpo Awards. En 2024, il réalise Le Joueur de Go.
