Biografie
Cameron Bruce Crowe ist ein US-amerikanischer Drehbuchautor und Filmregisseur. Bevor er in die Filmbranche wechselte, war Crowe Redakteur beim Magazin „Rolling Stone“. Crowes Debüt als Drehbuchautor, „Fast Times at Ridgemont High“, entstand aus einem Buch, das er während eines einjährigen Undercover-Einsatzes als Schüler an der Clairemont High School in San Diego, Kalifornien, schrieb. Dort lernte er Geraldine Edwards kennen, die ebenfalls Schülerin war und die er später als Vorbild für seine Figur Penny Lane in „Almost Famous“ nutzte, nachdem er herausgefunden hatte, dass sie Backstage-Bereiche von Rockkonzerten besuchte. Später schrieb und inszenierte er mit „Say Anything“ eine weitere Highschool-Saga und anschließend „Singles“, eine Geschichte über Mittzwanziger in Seattle, deren Soundtrack die aufkeimende Grunge-Szene der Stadt widerspiegelt. Crowes größter Erfolg war jedoch „Jerry Maguire“. Danach erhielt er grünes Licht für sein Herzensprojekt, die autobiografische Komödie „Almost Famous“. Ende 1999 veröffentlichte Crowe sein zweites Buch „Conversations with Billy Wilder“, ein Interview mit dem legendären Regisseur.
