Biografie
Irwin Winkler ist ein US-amerikanischer Filmproduzent und -regisseur. Er produzierte oder inszenierte über 58 Kinofilme, angefangen mit „Double Trouble“ (1967) mit Elvis Presley in der Hauptrolle. Sein vierter Film, „Nur Pferden gibt man den Gnadenschuss“ (1969) mit Jane Fonda, wurde für neun Oscars nominiert. Für „Rocky“ (1976) gewann er den Oscar für den besten Film. Als Produzent wurde er für vier Filme in der Kategorie „Bester Film“ nominiert: „Rocky“ (1976), „Wie ein wilder Stier“ (1980), „Der Stoff, aus dem die Helden sind“ (1983) und „Goodfellas – Drei Jahrzehnte in der Mafia“ (1990).
