Biografía
Inició su carrera junto a su padre Alex Phillips, pionero de la cinematografía mexicana, y del director Rubén Gámez. Debutó como fotógrafo en Yanco (1960), ópera prima de Servando González. Trabajó en producciones mexicanas de los directores Ismael Rodríguez, Roberto Gavaldón y Felipe Cazals. En Estados Unidos trabajó con Sam Peckinpah, George C. Scott, Sidney Poitier y Marvin Chomsky, entre otros.
